Art Projects Using Construction Paper

Quilts

This is an ABC quilt which was displayed at the California Kindergarten Conference Art Exhibit held in San Francisco. Each child illustrates a letter quilt square and a geometric square.

This quilt is from Victoria's classroom (KinderKorner) which is a monthly quilt project, and this October it's spider handprints and a black-and-orange bowtie pattern variation. Most months she makes a thematic/seasonal handprint, plus a geometric patch that gets more difficult as the year progresses. The geometric patches show her how well the children listen to and follow directions, how good their spatial perception skills are, and how they're doing in terms of fine motor skill development. This quilt uses paper pattern blocks to form geometric designs. Students explore spatial awareness and geometric concepts through this type of art experience. This quilt was on display at the California Kindergarten Conference Art Exhibit.

Here is a quilt square Victoria has used for her December quilt in past years. For additional ideas for December from Victoria's classroom, go to: KinderKorner-December

Students decorated a "Mother" paper doll with various patterns and textures of fabrics for a special tribute for Mother's Day. Another sample of the California Kindergarten Conference Art Exhibit.
