Drawing Portraits

Mrs. Livinal offers several opportunities for the students in her Kindergarten class to practice illustrating portraits through self portraits, famous faces, and more. She begins each drawing lesson with an interactive directed drawing demonstration concentrating on the shape of the human head, placement of features, shading, and color. Mrs. Livinal offers a successful experience for each student.

STEP 1

Sample Portrait, George Washington

Mrs. Livinal begins by having the students draw the famous face by following her direction and by looking closely at the sample portrait. They draw first with their pencils and then go over the lines with a black crayon or permanent black marker.
